There’s nothing wrong with playing sports. It’s a wonderful way to have fun, get some exercise, bond with your mates and learn how to be a valuable team player. The problem is that not many of us actually participate in sports these days. Most of us haven’t stepped on a pitch since our schooldays, when we were forced to run pointlessly round an icy field in the depths of winter while some sadistic maniac of a PE teacher screamed abuse at us from the sidelines.
After all, why bother to get all sweaty and red- faced and out of breath when you can watch someone else do all the work from the comfort of your sofa, a beer in one hand and a giant kebab in the other?
